Guild Goals:
A.Just as a Giant redwood tree branches out to protect the creatures beneath it, our goal as a guild is to branch out amoung all of Norrath and assist those who need our help. We are not here to get experience as fast as we can or to make as much money as possible, although that can be great fun when grouped with people you like, but we are here to make Norrath a great place to be. Have you ever just started a character and a much higher leveled character gives you an awesome weapon, or a couple of platinum? If you haven't, then I'm really sorry, but if you have you know what a great feeling it is! Just as equally wonderful is knowing that you were that person who just made that Elf's day. Perhaps because of you, that one person will begin to give to others. An entire cycle can be started, and our vision is for The Tree of Life to be the guild that starts the continuous cycle of perpetual bliss in Norrath. Giving free buffs, binds, etc. Are things expected in this guild? Who needs money when we have countless friends?!?
B.Now here's the hard part! When another character starts an argument with a Tree of Life guild member, that guild member is expect to do one of two things: step down and let them believe they are right, even if they are not; or they can kill them with kindness. Have you ever been pulling a monster back to your group and when you turn around someone else is fighting it? Initially, you get really upset only to find that when you simply question the person he replies that he thought you were in trouble, he apologizes, and assures you that it won't happen again. You suddenly aren't as angry anymore. You reply that it's ok, and you apologize for accusing him of KSing because you have accidently done the same thing yourself when you were trying to help someone else. This reaction to the situation is what we expect a member's reaction to be in all cases. This is how The Tree of Life's natural defense should be. --Even though it is not a natural defense. This is not, however, an excuse to make someone feel dumb by mocking them. There is a fine line there, a member is required to know this line through experience. If you are making someone mad, even if you are trying to be nice, then leave them be. Understand that there are some people in Norrath that just don't like people and don't like being nice. If this concept is violated too many times, then the guild will have to come to a decision on how to handle the situation. Certain circumstances could lead to probation, demotion, or even termination. This holds especially true for Guild Officers. Officers will be expected to "act more on rational thoughts than on raw emotions," they are the role models of the guild and set the guild's atmosphere. The reason this will be so strictly enforced is so that our goal can become a reality. The team is only as strong as it's weakest links; when it comes to hospitality we will have no weak links. Remember that if you have The Tree of Life above you, then what you do reflects the belief of everyone in the guild; this reflection will be a positive one! :-)
C.This last expectation is almost as important as the previous one, but not quite. Okayare you ready? To be a member of The Tree of Life, one must want toHAVE FUN!!! This is a game, and no matter how tense or real it can seem at times it was meant for us to have a great time! Thanks to those of you who have read through this entire Charter. If you are interested in joining then keep reading.
New Members:
A.In order to make sure that the individual applying for the guild has the morals and beliefs that we're looking for there will be a trial period of one week. Within the week you will group with various members of the guild, including an officer or two, and you will be evaluated :-). The officer and/or member(s) will watch the applicant for a variety of things and report back to the group. If it can be arranged, the officer will be someone who doesn't know the applicant previously. This will give a more unbiased report back to the guild. If you would like to group with an officer/member, then you need to post your interest on the New Members section of the Discussion Forum and you and an officer will arrange a date and time to meet. Of course the more guild members you group with the better. Remember we all would like to get to know you. What we will be looking for:
-
The desire to help people.
-
Good morals (race is not an issue in our guild). The reason this is so complicated is because only those people who really want to join the guild will stay. Chances are that they will be people that our guild has had a direct positive impact on.
-
And of course are you having FUN? :-)
B.After grouping with an officer, there will be a post in the Guild Members section of the discussion forum with a recommendation. From there we will decide yay or nay. If someone has made it that far, then the choice is very rarely nay, but if it is, then we still encourage interaction with the guild. Good Luck to all who wish to join. We want you to be apart of our family!
